AGA was founded in 2018. It is an international, non-governmental and non-profit scientific organization, whose principal objective is to stimulate the development of geography in Asia.

Missions & Objectives

The main objectives of the AGA are:

 

a. to stimulate the development of geography in Asia;

 

b. to advance research and educational activities in all fields of geography in Asia;

 

c. to promote the dissemination of knowledge of geography in education, business and governmental organizations across Asia;

 

d. to improve communication and facilitate cooperation among institutions in member countries.

  • Second Asian Young Geographers Workshop Held Online

  • International Conference on Modern Problems of Geography held in Baku

    Azerbaijan Geographical Society hosted an international scientific-practical conference "Modern problems of geography: integration of science and education" on November 29-30, 2022 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

  • IGU Thematic Conference 2022 Held in Mahendragarh

    International Geographical Union (IGU) Thematic Conference, 2022 on “Sustainability, Future Earth and Humanities: Opportunities and Challenges”, was organized by the Department of Geography, Central University of Haryana, Mahendragarh from 24-25th November 2022.

  • First Conference on World Geography Convened in Shanghai

    The First Conference on World Geography was held on November 26-27, 2022 in Shanghai, China. With the theme of “Geography and Our Common Future”, the conference was jointly organized by the Geographical Society of China (GSC), China Institute for Innovation & Development Strategy, East China Normal University (ECNU) and University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Statement on the 5th ACG Postponement

 

Dear colleagues,

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and travel restrictions imposed by most of the countries in the world, the Asian Geographical Association (AGA) and the local organizing committee have decided to postpone the 5th Asian Conference on Geography (5th ACG) originally scheduled on Oct. 18-22, 2021 for about six months. The new dates of the 5th ACG will be Apr. 21-25, 2022 and the conference venue remains at Thai Nguyen University (TNU), Thai Nguyen, Vietnam. 

 

Information of more details on the conference including the revised important dates, conference program will be soon available on the conference website http://acg2021.tnu.edu.vn/.

 

Please mark your calendar with the new dates. Thanks for your understanding and patience and we are looking forward to welcoming you in Vietnam in April 2022.

On February 6th, 2023, two major earthquakes hit Turkey and thousands of people were killed and injured in the devastating disaster. Dr. Enes Alkan, Chair of Young Geographers Commission of Turkish Geographical Society made a documentary together with several scientists from Turkish and internationally. They hope this video will raise awareness globally and contribute to pre-disaster process.
