The 6th Asian Conference on Geography (ACG2025) Held in New Delhi, India

The 6th Asian Conference on Geography was successfully organized by the Department of Geography, Faculty of Sciences, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India, in collaboration with the Asian Geographical Association from 6th to 8th November 2025. The central theme of the conference was “Climate Change, Urbanization and Sustainable Resource Management in Asian Countries.” The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Honorable Union Minister of India, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. D.P. Singh, Former Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), as the Guest of Honor. Their presence added great significance to the event and inspired the participants with their insightful remarks on India’s role in advancing scientific research and sustainable development. The occasion was further honored by the presence of Prof. Mazhar Asif, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia, and Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, Jamia Millia Islamia, whose support greatly contributed to the success of the event. Prof. Atiqur Rahman, Organising Secretary and Head, Department of Geography, formally welcomed the delegates and provided an overview of the main themes and sub-themes of the conference, highlighting the academic depth and interdisciplinary scope of the event.

The conference brought together over 400 delegates from 10 countries (China, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Nepal, Malaysia, Russia, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and India), making it one of the largest gatherings of Asian geographers in recent years. The conference served as a vibrant platform for academic exchange, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among senior scholars, early-career researchers, practitioners, and students. The plenary and 18 lead lectures were delivered by eminent geographers, including Prof. H.S. Sharma, Sachidanand Sinha, Prof. Yuji Murayama, and Prof. Gong Jie, who provided deep insights into contemporary spatial research, geospatial innovations, and sustainability challenges in Asia. Over 36 technical sessions and a dedicated poster session covered a wide spectrum of themes such as climate resilience, hydrological extremes, urban transformations, ecosystem vulnerability, remote sensing applications, and sustainable resource management.

The valedictory ceremony was graced by Dr. Afroz Alam, Member, National Green Tribunal, as the Chief Guest, and Colonel Tahir Mustafa, Registrar of Jamia Hamdard, as the Guest of Honor. The program was also attended by Ms. Xuanzi Zhang, Secretary of AGA, and Prof. Suresh Chand Rai, Vice President of AGA, who were specially honored during the ceremony for their contributions. ACG2025 concluded as a highly successful academic event, strengthening regional collaboration and advancing the mission of the Asian Geographical Association in promoting geographical research and cooperation across Asia.
